Volunteer with Us
The Environmental Justice Society is an organisation concerned with safeguarding the environment and the people that live in it from the negative effects of company activities within Australia. The EJS is committed to safeguarding people from the hazardous toxins released into the environment due to companies’ activities and their effect on the health of the people in the long run.
This is a huge but important job. Our activities include:
- Educating the public about their rights regarding the environment.
- Educating them on how to enforce these rights.
- Advise them on the appropriate channels through which they can lodge their complaints and provide them with the support they need.
To carry out all these activities, we need all hands on deck. We invite like-minded people who are environmentally conscious and willing to work hard to achieve the organisation’s goals. This is one of the reasons why we are opening our doors to volunteers. We encourage people interested in environmental law and its protection to take advantage of the opportunity to help affected people and learn.
Another reason why we have opened our doors to volunteers is to help train new people who are interested in environmental law and protection. Volunteers can work on real-life environmental issues involving real people, see first-hand the effect of hazardous company activities in Australia, and learn as the people’s rights are enforced to stop those activities.
What Volunteers Gain
Volunteers at the Environmental Justice Society have so much to gain. Volunteering at an organisation like the EJS gives the volunteers a lot of exposure and helps them develop problem-solving skills.
Volunteers get to work with our members who are professionals and experts in their field. The Environmental Justice Society is made up of lawyers, doctors, scientists, and campaigners. Volunteers work near the members and learn directly from them and pick up important skills and experience.
Volunteers at the EJS can impact society. The EJS works to help community members affected adversely by the release of toxins and toxic materials into their environment. EJS impacts life. Working as a volunteer with EJS provides an opportunity to impact those people and communities as well.
Volunteering at the EJS provides an avenue to gain exposure. Volunteers get first-hand exposure to real-life situations in which people’s lives are affected. They can follow the process of educating the people and solving the problem. Thereby the volunteers gain knowledge.
